Pinoy R.N. – Philippines Top 100 Blogs for 2008

Ranking third in the Philippines Top 100 Blogs for 2008 is Pinoy R.N. In this interview, Davao-based Lyle Santos shares his secret.

Janette: What have you done this year for your blog that contributed to its growth?

Lyle: Since its inception in December 2005, Pinoy R.N. has been having a slow but steady growth in readership. I can’t think of any specific thing that I did that contributed to its growth but I have always had a few rules that I observe in maintaining my blog and that is to write accurate, up-to-date, and most importantly, original content.

Janette: What marketing strategy works best for your blog?

Lyle: To be honest, I don’t do any “marketing” for my blog. I just write and people keep coming so I guess my content markets itself.

Janette: How much % of your annual income do you attribute to your blog as the source?

Lyle: 100% I am a full time blogger.

Janette: What tips can you give to bloggers who would like to achieve blog growth?

Lyle: Write sensible, relevant, and most importantly original content. I see a lot of new blogs that simply copy-paste from several sources. It’s not going to do aspiring bloggers any good. Think of it this way — If it is already available somewhere else, why would readers take time to read the same old content on your blog?

Blogging is about making a connection with your readers.
